I was raised in Southeast Asia, mostly Bangkok and now live in California. With a dispersed family living around the world, my brother who lived in Sao Paolo, Brazil, introduced me to sublime bossa nova, forró, and samba rhythms. Now, living in an electronic age, my instrumentals surface somewhere between these spheres, combined with what I consider to be fusion jazz, imagined in a manner that I hope creates downtempo and lo-fi world music. I try to create music that is not thwarted by quieter melodic phrasing, perhaps inspiring a softer touch in my playing, when possible. Indeed, the venerable bassist Pino Palladino noted that we need to give our notes space. I do not compose frequently due to a busy career, but will get a composition out every year or so to ensure that one's creative flow remains.
