I started learning to play the piano at 4-years-old. I always struggled with counting and fingering, so much so that I convinced my parents to allow me to quit taking lessons at 14-years-old, though to get their approval I had to be able to play every hymn in the hymn book of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Without the constraint of needing to use my time on the piano to learn the songs my teachers wanted me to learn, I was able to start delving into the world of creation. At 18-years-old, I started playing my own songs as musical numbers in church. After a few years, I became frustrated that I couldn't remember my own songs I had created, so I started writing them down as a way to remember them and play them the same every time and to not forget them. This has ultimately led to a greater desire to share my music with everyone I can because I am proud of all the hard work I have put into perfecting each of my songs.
