“I remember sneaking into my brother’s room and trying to play his Guitar.." Cary Simms first noted his love for the saxophone as a youth in Oakland, California where he was born. Cary spent much of his early teen years in California where his father, who was a local musician that played for many local area Churches as a Pianist, introduced him to the gospel scene. Cary’s young life influenced by the Bay Area music scene of varying styles ranging from Gospel, Jazz, Rhythm & Blues, started developing his ear for melodies by spending hours listening to all types of music. Later He and his family, relocated to the Pacific Northwest where he continued to pursue his love of music. A child prodigy, Cary’s earlier musical influences were received from Portland, Oregon’s finest and most revered performers and instructors (i.e. John Gross, Dennis Springer, Thara Memory, Janice Scroggins, Ricky Callier). etc!!
