Coolhand Jax is the moniker of LA-based multi-instrumentalist Jacob Weissman. Coming of age in the DIY scene of Western Massachusetts, Weissman's music is a homespun psych reaction to 10's bedroom stardom. After stepping aside from the East Coast surf-psych luminaries Sunshine Brothers Inc. in 2020, Weissman spent three months road-tripping the United States, tracking a number of demos on the road that would eventually become Coolhand Jax’s debut EP, "No Dreams of Anything" (2020). The EP was released on Spirit Goth Records, followed by his sophomore EP, "Superstar Baby," (2021) and his debut LP, "Proper Fun." (2023)
