Am Shir Band — “People of Song” — is a sacred music project founded by Dov Gilvanci Levi, a Sephardic entrepreneur and author with roots in Aleppo, Amsterdam, and Portugal. Drawing from the daily study of Tehilim (Psalms of David) and the ancient hazzan cantorial tradition, Am Shir brings the Psalms back to life through lyric tenor voice and orchestral arrangements.
Each composition honors the memory of grandmother Domingas Portillo — Sarah Nasser Levi — who sang these same verses in Ladino in the hills of Girona.
100% of all royalties support Ten Yad Social Project, providing over 3,400 daily meals to elderly Jews in São Paulo, Brazil.
Every stream is an act of tzedaká.
