Rising star “Dread Hop King” is poised to take the recording industry by storm. His distinct sound and clever metaphors, influenced by his love for hip-hop and reggae music, separate him from the likeness of any conventional rapper. Born in Bronx, New York to Jamaican parents, and raised in Tampa, Florida, D.H.K’s exposure to a variety music came at an early age. Dread Hop King’s father had a popular reggae band, and at an age as early as 3, DHK played the drums for them at concerts. As he got older he then began learning to play other instruments such as the keyboard and bass guitar, he also began to frontline the band with the Jamaican rap form known as DJing. At the tender age of 7, D.H.K’s father was tragically killed in a car accident on Christmas morning while returning home from one of his band’s concerts.
