I write songs about the things we carry with us: people we love, people we lose, mistakes we make, moments we wish we could live again, and the hope that maybe the best part of life is still ahead. EFS Afterdark is the music of songwriter and artist Evan Farr Smith. Some songs come from my own life. Others begin when I put myself in someone else's shoes and imagine what that moment might feel like. I don't believe a songwriter has to live every story to tell it honestly. But you do have to find the humanity inside it. The music moves between alternative and heartland rock, atmospheric guitars, pop melodies, and quieter moments, but the story always comes first. EFS Afterdark isn't really about one genre or one sound. It's about connection. If one of these songs reminds you of someone, takes you back somewhere, makes you laugh, or puts words around something you've felt but never said, then the song did what I hoped it would do.
