Hailey Firstman, the 24-year-old girl behind Mr. Marigold and half of Dog Eyes, is a self-proclaimed renaissance woman. She's working on two novels, loves oil painting, and has been writing little tunes since her high school days. Growing up in a creative family, from a young age, Hailey used her art to process her emotions. Dove, her debut album is an expression of both grief and resilience, fittingly what the marigold flower symbolizes. The album addresses a clash between confronting one's pain and escaping it through fantasy or imagination. It takes both an intimate and other-worldly glimpse into her experience and the human experience over the past few years of love, loss, power, loneliness, online dating, toxic relationships, growing up, disembodiment, and picking up the pieces when it feels there is nothing left to pick up.
