Barbadian Winston “I” Farrell is a Performance Artist, Published Poet, Practicing Playwright, and Theatre Artist. Regarded as Barbados’ godfather of rhythm poetry, his ‘Pop-Poems’/Songs include the now legendary Bus Man (1980), Black Knight (1990), and Minibus Hustle (1983). He holds a Masters in Theatre and Development Studies from the University of Leeds. he was Writer/Artist in residence with the Hudson Valley Writers Guild and the University of Albany NY, the Jefferson Community College of Kentucky, and the University of Louiseville. His play, House of Landship, won the Villa De Paris prize for Best Non Francophone play in 2013 and represented Barbados at Carifesta X1 In Suriname. Farrell has distinguished himself over the years both within the Barbadian cultural landscape, and as a touring actor and performance poet, with recent performances including the Jamaica Poetry Festival, and the Medellin International Poetry Festival.
