iLLann (Ilan Farkvam) is a 22 year old artist, born and raised in the mountains of Northern British Columbia. She uses a violin, mic, and loop pedal to creates live soundscapes full of cascading vocal harmonies, taps and thunks, and haunting strings. She has been fiddling since the age of 4, surrounded by talented and inspiring musicians.
Her songwriting has become a therapeutic method used to peel back the layers of self and enter the beyond.
She draws inspiration from a wellspring of artists like Portishead, Massive Attack, Bonobo, and Tom Yorke. Though her roots are folk fiddle and classical violin, she has moved into the realms of alternative and trip hop, feeling drawn to dissonance; to layers and swampy depths.
