After over 13 years, the Bay Area’s Illucinus have returned to action. Formed in Redwood City, CA by Petr Oplatka (vocals/guitar) and Cameron Stucky (guitar) in 2007, the crushing death metal outfit started playing out with the likes of Brain Drill and other local leaders before shifting focus to create other bands. While Oplatka and Stucky continued to create music, sharpen their musical chops, and tour with other groups, the two always talked about reviving Illucinus with new energy and learned insights. Fast forward to the present -- the group is alive and well, accompanied in the revival by original bassist Dan Saltzman and tech death powerhouse KC Brand for drumming duties. The group released a re-envisioned version of their 2008 EP The Machine in the summer of 2022.
