Jameel Amman Paulin is a visual artist and music producer whose work is rooted in the New Orleans jazz lineage of his family — grandson of Doc Paulin, founder of the Doc Paulin Dixieland Brass Band, and heir to a tradition carried forward by his father and uncles through the Paulin Brothers Brass Band. In his studio and studio-production practice, he uses Afrofuturism as a means to explore Black sound — its histories, its utopian futures, and its role as an aesthetic and spiritual technology across the African diaspora. Raised within a living brass band lineage and coming of age during the hip-hop and digital eras, Jameel's relationship to Afrofuturism has been shaped as much by inherited sound as by sampling, syncopation, and emerging digital tools. Presently, Jameel Amman is a music producer with seven self-released albums, using Black music and sound studies as the foundation for immersive digital soundscapes and virtual worlds that carry his family's sonic lineage into Afrofuturist
