Paul Anjolaoluwa Omotayo, widely known as Jola, was born on December 29 in Oke-Ira, Ogba, Lagos State, with roots in vibrant Kogi State. His journey through the world of music began at an early age, influenced by his father's timeless selection of legends like Baba Ara, Fela Kuti, King Sunny Ade, and Ebenezer Obey. Jola's family was deeply entrenched in the realm of Pentecostal church choir music, and his mother, a Yoruba literature teacher, and an ingenious composer, kindled his passion for both poetry and songwriting. At the tender age of 14, Jola joined an Alujo music band, igniting the spark of his very own musical odyssey. His music seamlessly weaves together the soulful rhythms of Afro-fusion with the lively street pop beats of Fuji music. This unique blend evokes the vibrancy of Afropop and Afrobeat, transcending boundaries to captivate the hearts of listeners far and wide. Apart from his artistic pursuits, Jola holds a degree in Pharmacy from the University of Ibadan.
