Kaory Mambo is an independent multidisciplinary artist from Gabon who began her artistic apprenticeship at a young age. Her initiation to music begins within a choir, where she falls in love with the art of voice harmony. She continues as a back vocalist for various artists, such as Lee Scratch Perry in 2012. She is highly inspired by traditional Gabonese rhythms such as bwiti, gwata and more, and was deeply influenced by black american genres such as Neo soul, Hip hop and Rnb. Other genres are the central african rhythms of the 70s. She creates music in which soul, rhythm and sensuality are wrapped together in an eclectic combination. She explores themes of belonging, mental and physical liberation.
