Rio de Janeiro

Kimbanda is Brazilian Musical Sorcery — a sonic ritual that turns the gira into a dancefloor beat. Eletrokimbanda, eletro-MPB, eletro-samba, eletro-funk: an Afro-Brazilian tradition meeting contemporary electronic sound. Kimbanda is a living religion, and these tracks are its calls — to a specific Exu or a specific Pombagira, by name, by ponto, by the beat. Ponto cantado meeting electronic drums. Ponto riscado meeting synthesizer. Dawn laughter meeting deep bass. The artists remain masked — not for mystery, but because in the gira the one who sings is not the one who appears. The work is collective and the entity owns it. What you hear is what came. Hail the crown of Exu. Hail the crown of Pombagira. Laroyê.
