In her home in Dayton, Ohio, Lisa Rose listened to her mother’s Mario Lanza and her father’s Si Zentner and sang in the church choir, and, turning 10, begged her parents for a guitar. Covering songs of a wide spectrum of musicians from Joni, Laura, and Bonnie to Argentine folklore and Brazilian bossa nova, she would strut them at coffee houses while doing her doctorate at Berkeley in Comparative Literature. Eventually turning to teaching as stable professional, she moved to Argentina and, along with the passions of raising children and dogs and horses, dedicated most of her creative time to poetry and literary translation. It’s just recently that all her moodscapes and landscapes could merge with her fascination for melodies and words to form a tonalistic meeting of the skills she’d been honing for years. Just finishing her first CD “Awake,” a showcase for her generous range of voice and topics, a second one, “Bearings, A Life in the Pampas” is already in the making!
