Folksinger, songspinner, shantyman, and bard, Matthew DeChant is an aural storyteller in every sense of the word. Born and raised in the United States but working primarily in the English tradition, he draws inspiration everywhere from Peter Bellamy to John Denver to Ronnie Drew, while always interspersing his American roots and local history. He currently studies classical composition and sound design at the Lawrence University Conservatory of Music, but his musical output is as wide and vast as the oceans he sings about.
