Mgetem789 was born in Norfolk, Virginia on 19 October 1985. As a child Mgetem was influenced by Early 90’s Hip Hop and dance/Rhythm music. His parents listened to classic soul records and gospel often, so he was influenced deeply in those genres as well. From the years of 90’s through the early 00’s, he would sneak into his brother’s room and steal his Wu-Tang Clan, A Tribe Called Quest, and many other tapes. At that point he found the deepest passion for Hip-Hop. In 2012 he began making beats with Illien Rosewell. Mgetem’s style of production is similar to Flying Lotus, Knxwledge, Madlib, Ras G, and Dibiase.
