BAD BRUCE is a fictional musical outlaw persona of filmmaker and songwriter Mike Bruce—an MIT-trained musician who taught music for three years before co-founding the early-2000s psychedelic rock band Low Flying Owls, whose albums were self-produced under band leader Jared Southard and engineered by Mark Needham. After years of directing films and collaborating with artists like Noel Gallagher, The Dandy Warhols, and Paul McCartney, he now returns under a new banner. BAD BRUCE blends outlaw country, indie rock, vaudeville noir, cinematic Americana, southern grit, and country-folk confessionals—a genre-bending voice shaped by dusty highways, knife-sharp storytelling, and a lifetime on the edge of music and film.
