I’m from Escondido and I’ve been making music since I was 11. I keep to myself, so everything you hear is written, recorded, and put together by me.
For The Vase in Late Spring, I start on guitar, add a drum beat, then build it out like I’m editing a movie. I play guitar and bass, then fill in whatever else it needs—sometimes playing parts, sometimes using (stealing) free loops. Asteroid Eyes is all DAW.
It’s instrumental for now because I don’t feel like singing in an apartment.
I make music while watching movies on mute, vaping, and drinking too much soda. I miss being in bands, just not enough to start one again.
Motivation usually comes from Elliott Smith, Ben Gibbard, Hazel English, The Go! Team. Lately: Sad Lovers & Giants, Jay Reatard, Otoboke Beaver.
If it sounds good, I was probably in a good mood. Movies fix the rest.
