Shanda Rae is the recording identity of artist and writer Shanda Louis, whose songs grow from the same place as her visual work and prose: close attention to ordinary life, emotional undercurrents, and the small moments that keep revealing something larger.
Her songs often begin long before they become songs: a sentence noticed in real life, a piece of writing, an image, a question, a moment that keeps humming underneath. From there, they move through language and music, carrying traces of where they began.
The result is intimate, story-driven music shaped by tenderness, wit, longing, resilience, and what she calls hope with history in it. Rather than reaching for reinvention, Shanda Rae is interested in what happens when we remain ourselves and become more fully present inside the lives we already have.
Released through Mirror Weaver Studios.
