I wrote 'Don't Pray For Me' after seeing countless tragedies being met with nothing but "thoughts and prayers". As a queer artist, issues of justice and equity are near to my heart and my music. The song was inspired by protest music of the sixties, and I arranged it with earthy, sparse instrumentation to highlight the gravity of the lyrics. I want this song to inspire people to reject the "us vs. them" mentality, and instead realize that real love for one another takes courage and action. more
