Nathanael Hawkinson has been performing under the stage name "The Carica Tree" since 2022. Ficus Carica is the genus and species of the Mediterranean fig tree. Nathanael has been deeply impacted by the stories of the Bible and the parables of Jesus. In one of those stories about Jesus, he finds Nathanael the disciple and tells him "I saw you under the fig tree." This transforms Nathanael's worldview and he follows Jesus from then on. Nathanael Hawkinson had a similar experience of "being seen" by Jesus, and now he creates music in hopes of bearing good fruit, like a fig tree producing fruit after it's kind. Nathanael lives in Kansas with his family and is a staff director at a Bible Camp, as well as a certified Paramedic. He works in an emergency department. The songs come from a place that seeks to identify the world as a broken place with glimmers of hope shining through every crack of reality.
