Classically trained from a young age, Dublin-based multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Neil Dexter incorporates elements of his formative formal practice as a double bassist and vocalist with experimental textures to create exceptionally dynamic and immersive arrangements. Dexter’s trajectory towards this solo project, which hears him in a completely new light, chronicles his progression from professional boy soprano to founding member of Dublin-based indie-rock quintet, Spies. In 2018, Dexter began writing material that would evolve into a sound unlike anything he had previously worked on. The manifestation of this work represents a pure expression of his multifaceted artistry and musical sensibilities. An eclectic ear honed over extended periods performing classically-led music with the National Youth Orchestra and later the Trinity Orchestra, coupled with Dexter’s keen exploration of rock and pop music whilst playing with various bands have broadened his sonic palette.
