NIA is an alternative r&b singer-songwriter/producer based in Philadelphia.
Born in Queens, NY to Trinidadian parents, she began writing songs at the age of 5. Her main influences as she grew up were Michael Jackson, Sade, Bob Marley and Stevie Wonder (To name a few). As a child, she lived in Trinidad for a few years and was also heavily influenced by Calypso and Soca music.
As a youth, she actively wrote songs for her brother. That creativity then evolved into music production by her junior year of high school. She also began to sing regularly around this time.
While attending Shippensburg University, NIA continued to build her musicality. She began performing locally and working with several other artist in the area. During her senior year, she founded Chill Room Records.
NIA's Lo-fi instrumental EP entitled, "THERAPY," is available on all platforms.
