Minneapolis-based producer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Nic Jules blends the layered synths and washed out guitars of bedroom pop, the hypnotic rhythms of dance and hip hop, and his chilled vocal delivery to create a psychedelic dreamscape. This kaleidoscope of sound often includes nuanced and well researched takes on the cultural issues of today, in a package that combines medicine with a spoonful of sugar. A self described “solarpunk anarchist,” Nic Jules creates art with the goal of providing an optimistic eco futurist vision, in contrast to the cyberpunk dystopia that permeates our culture today. In order to achieve this future, we need to resist the present power structures preventing us from achieving it, namely dictatorial corporations and corrupt politicians.
