With his unique fusion of rap and afrobeat, Pharaoh the 47 has created one of the most unique sounds in music today. The artist has dubbed this new genre “HyFro” (Hybrid Afrobeats). Born in Jos, Nigeria, Pharaoh began his music career in his local middle school orchestra, where he played the clarinet and saxophone. In 2014, Pharaoh began to produce EDM under the name “Pharrow”, to this day, his sound is still heavily influenced by the genre. Pharaoh draws inspiration from all manner of artists, including Asa, 6lack, Kendrick Lamar, Olamide, Droloe, Andrea Bocelli, Hans Zimmer, and the list goes on. Pharaoh released a new album “Top Boy” earlier in 2022, which tackles more serious topics like systematic oppression and depression and showcases the young rapper-singer’s range. It is safe to say this young act is next up!
