The Pioneer Valley
Williamstown, MA, USA
The Pioneer Valley formed when brothers Andrew and Matthew Thompson came off the road during the Covid crisis. They had been touring in various different bands separately and together for the last 30 years. Playing as hired musicians for many Americana, country rock and up-and-coming country artist, they toured all over country. It was obvious that this was the perfect time to record all the songs that seemingly didn’t have an outlet and write as many new songs as they could. Originally from Massachusetts they decided to name the band after a cool stretch of road that serves as the gateway to western Massachusetts, where they have roots that run all the way back to the 1600’s. Much of their songwriting sessions are done in a small family cabin that sits close to the Hoosic river on the Massachusetts/Vermont state line.
