Rhema “Pocket Size” Lampkins is a poet/rapper who first realized she had a gift for writing back in her middle school years when her teacher gave out a poetry assignment for the first time. Not only did she heavily impress her classmates, but she also received lots of praise when she read the piece for her mother at home. After discovering her hidden talent, yearly she created short poems for her Mom on holidays. It wasn’t until around the age of 17, she decided to take her work more seriously. She became extremely inspired by artists such as Se7en, Janette Ikz, and Sho Baraka. Spoken word artist “Se7en” performed at her church and blew her mind; the metaphors, the imagery, and delivery that he displayed all became the building blocks for starting her career in poetry. She first began performing at her church for teen events and conferences. Once her confidence grew, she found herself at various poetry lounges gaining a fan base.
