Richard Brugge is an independent electronic artist creating hardware-driven music that moves between IDM, ambient, synthwave and experimental electronica. His music is built around a large collection of hardware instruments and machines, including the Roland MC-707, Polyend Tracker+, Novation Bass Station II, IK Multimedia UNO Synth Pro X, Behringer TD-3, RD-6 and RD-8, Yamaha RX11, Roland JV-880, Yamaha TX81Z, Elektron Model and Yamaha MX49. Rather than relying mainly on software, Brugge prefers a hands-on approach built around sequencing, live performance, improvisation and direct recording. A Tascam Model 12 sits at the heart of the workflow, allowing multiple machines to be recorded together as complete performances. Selected recordings are also processed through hardware such as the Yamaha SPX990, Behringer Virtualizer and Akai 4000DB tape machine, adding texture, unpredictability and character.
