Saul Damelyn writes about the creative life. Following your dreams. Homecoming and renewal. Being true to yourself. Time passing. All with a healthy dose of pastiches on human nature. And through the prism of an album which contains a multitude of statements, often conflicting, like in life.
Kings, Queens and Dream Machines is lyrically-driven, and influenced musically by English New Wave/Glam Rock and Nashville country. Saul Damelyn wrote the words and music, two of the songs co-writes with Paul Harvey. The album features the soulful and expressive vocalist Phoebe White. Paul, a gentle giant of a musician, produced and provided most of the instrumentation. Saul couldn’t resist one guitar solo, on the album’s only cover, the Flying Burrito Brothers’ High Fashion Queen.
