schlagschatten is the sonic project of Zürich-based artist Holger Schimanke – a journey through decayed architecture, forgotten frequencies, and the spaces between light and its absence.
drawing from the raw physicality of modular synthesis and the discipline of electronic body music, schlagschatten builds worlds that are simultaneously industrial and intimate. rhythmic structures emerge from analogue noise. drones evolve into motion. every patch is unrepeatable.
rooted in the traditions of EBM and dark ambient by influences from DAF and Front 242 to Lustmord and Orphx – the project explores the tension between control and chaos, between the machine and the human hand that shapes it.
Active on stage across Zürich since 2025, schlagschatten brings modular improvisation into live performance – each show a different iteration of the same obsession.. more here: https://www.schlagschatten.ch/
