All my life I've tried To do the best I can But it always seems My hopes and dreams End up out of hand I finally figure out Just what I want to do So I give it it a try Just to find My aim just wasn't true I can't get up and go And I can't make it round the bend Just like every other time I'm late to the party again I'm my biggest fan and enemy right up til the end If it wasn't for me I wouldn't be Late to the party again I'm hoping that one day soon I'll luck upon a way To do things I want to do For more than just one day If I hit the bottle Or I have a smoke or 2 I might find In my mind Something new to do I've been this playing guitar And writing these old songs For too many years And lots of beer But it doesn't seem that long I traveled lots of road And here at this late age I finally made my way To sing and play On this here stage I can't get up and go And I can't make it round the bend Just like every other time I'm lat
