The Chinaskis is the bastard brainchild of Scottish singer-songwriter Robbie Edmonstone, who started the band in 2009 with long-standing drinking partners. Named as a homage to Henry Chinaski – the battered, booze-soaked three-time loser immortalized by Charles Bukowski – the band honed their craft on the sticky floor stages of the Scottish toilet circuit, weekend warriors driven by their shared love of drinking, harmony singing and power-pop and rock artists like Big Star, Tom Petty, Teenage Fanclub, Bob Mould, Soundgarden, Red House Painters, The Replacements and Alice in Chains. Robbie moved to live and work in Dallas, Texas in 2017 and continued working on The Chinaskis debut album in his spare time. “Songs for the Scunnered” finally sees the light of day in 2023, along with a new lineup, an album launch, a slew of dive bar gigs and a whole new family of listeners, friends, and potential drinking buddies.
