The Transverse Waves is the musical project of James Lawrence a multi-instrumentalist producer from Leamington Spa.
James loves mixing found sounds with ambient, folk and alternative rock influences, to create rich cinematic musical landscapes.
Influenced by Bowie, Eno and Nick Drake with electronic bands like the Cocteau Twins, Slowdive and Ride, James previously played drums and percussion with the Caution Horses an Oxford based indie band in the early 2000s, before going solo with Conspiracy of Grace, a tribute to his late mother.
James notes “Transverse waves oscillate at right angles to their direction of travel including surface ripples on water and radio and light waves. From a state of rest, energy that permeates out from a single source, to create beautiful patterns all around in nature. For this project, I was drawn to the sea, its energy and transient qualities, with each wave drawing you into something greater than its origin."
