Oklahoma City-based singer-songwriter Troy Anthony Small wears several artistic hats. As an educator, he teaches music theory, piano, and voice. Past lectures include the evolution of hip hop through the influence of Jamaican indigenous music, and of music with the poetry of Langston Hughes.
As a singer, he has crossed genres including opera, pop, jazz and sacred. His most recent opera appearances was as the Elder in “Where We Cried,” a 20-minute operetta by composer Samuel Phillips and as King Balthazar in Painted Sky Opera’s 2020 production of Menotti’s “Amahl and the Night Visitors.”
