As a kid in the very late 70's/early 80's, I was a big fan of the anime show Star Blazers. One of the characters was Dr. Sane, the medical guy, who always had a bottle of, some times it was spring water, sometimes a cure of motion sickness, and other times it was soybean milk. It was much later, I learned that in the original Japanese show, it was booze, and that the good old Doc drank like there was no tomorrow. Lyrically, this tune is an observation about this sort of situation. Musically, I had been listening to a very old Guess Who album called "Canned Wheat," and was coming up with, or trying to come up with, something that Burton Cummings might have written around then with himself, or with Randy Bachmann. I wanted to give it that feel at least.more
