Math Rock are a rock group from Portland, ME. The band's permanent lineup includes 3 multi-instrumentalists who collaborate in regards to vocals and songwriting. The band is known for filtering other genres through their largely experimental and improvisational lens. Their first EP, "rise and run," was marked by clear synthpunk influences, while their recent double-single demonstrated the same gung-ho attitude towards folkgaze.
When asked about their songwriting process, the band replied, "We write choruses, not tragedies."

Okay... So, I'm walking down hallway after hallway like I'm touring the department of mysteries. I look down consecutive aisles as my slow pace takes me further and further into the bowls of the department's inner recesses. With each aisle comes a brand new labyrinth of curios, kitsch models, and devices of unknown origin... Every fifth aisle or so, something grabs my fullest attention for the entirety of the time it rests before my eyes, only to disappear from view as my feet slowly carry me beyond the threshold of the next aisle... I continue, and do not look back. Neat song Lo-Key! -TheSiegeMachine
