She says she's going out with the girls. He says that's fine. He wants her to have a good time. He really does. But there's someone else in the room. Someone who might not even exist. I decided to strip this song down and let it build slowly. Just a voice at first, then bass, drums and eventually the distorted guitars. As his imagination gets out of control, so does the music. Have a good time. I hope you do... . . HAVE A GOOD TIME You said just the girls I said I know I want you happy I want you to go . You stood at the mirror You turned to the light You wiped off the lipstick It looked all right . You tried on the black one You tried on the blue I said I liked the old one You said this one is new . I asked you which bar You said we’ll see I said you must know You said don’t wait for me . You opened the drawer You took out the lace I looked at the ceiling You looked at my face . You said what is it? I said nothing much You went past my chair I reached out to touch . Have a good time I hope you do I want you happy I want you too I want you to go Have a good time . I know how you look When you want to be seen You said I always do this I said what do you mean? . You said just the girls You’d told me before I said I remembered And opened the door . There’s nobody else There’s nobody there I give him a face I give him a chair . He hasn’t said anything I know what he’ll he say I tell him you don’t like that He does it anyway . Have a good time I hope you do I want you happy I want you too I want you to go Have a good timemore

A simple riff, a restless mind, and a little dark humour. Here’s Melancholia — let me know what you think, but go easy on me 🙂more
