“roots” was written based on my personal fear of allowing someone love me - while I'm still in the process of healing from deep-rooted, past hurt. It explores the desire (along with the fear) to be deeply known and seen through the lens of someone who admires you. Using the imagery of and a garden, the song is ultimately about vulnerability and the realisation that your depth doesn’t make you "too much" and your wounds do not make you "not enough". To embrace your depth is truly beautiful.more

Lyrics: Midnight driving with the windows down Radio singing out those bubblegum sounds Empty streets, city's holding its breath tonight Oh oh oh She sits beside me dancing, her eyes shut tight Eyes closed, hands up, like she's painting the air, aah That wide, sneaky smile like she's never known care I think to myself "How'd I get you right here?" There is something about you, oh oh The way you light up when the light is low, oh oh I can not name it, got no clue, no no It pulls me into the unknown, I know So lucky to have you with me tonight I might be falling but it feels so right Lost in a riddle that I'll never solve You got me falling, I'm losing control Ah ah ah ah ah You got me fallin' Oh oh oh oh oh oh Nah nah nah nah Midnight cruising and you're here with me Na na na na We're only friends, but guess what else we could be Ah ah ah ah Can't help but wonder if you feel the same Are we together in this high-stakes game Are we together, or am I alone You're dancing and laughing, but I need to know I'm running all red lights, can't focus, no no There's something about you that makes me go Wow! There is something about you, oh oh I've never felt like this with no one else before, oh oh Don't tell me this is only in my head Let's say out loud what's better left unsaid The night belongs to us until the dawn So say the word and I'll keep driving on No turning back, the engine's wild and free You got me falling right where I should be Ah ah ah ah ah You got me fallin' Oh oh oh oh oh Nah nah nah nahmore
