My name is Jacob Nii Ayi Thompson, and the inspiration behind my music journey comes from my father’s remarkable legacy. Growing up, I watched him live as a passionate musician and founder of the Bawasaba Band. He performed jazz music across Ghana, the United Kingdom, and many other places, entertaining audiences in hotels, restaurants, jazz clubs, and eventually managing his own jazz club. In 2009, my father suffered a spinal cord injury that left him bedridden. Despite his condition, his passion for music never faded. During those difficult years, he devoted himself to writing gospel songs, recording melodies and ideas on a phone I bought for him, with the dream of one day sharing them with the world. Although he had written a large collection of songs, he was never physically strong enough to fully produce and publish them. Sadly, in 2022, my father passed away.
