Formed in 1994 in South Africa and reformed in 2019 in the UK, Black Amethyst is a progressive rock band with one foot firmly in the classical music domain. Our music leverages spirit lifting vocals and complex harmonies with full orchestral score accompanied by earth shattering riffs and bone crushing drums rolls. This is hard rock but not as you know it!
Black Amethyst is also the title of our debut vinyl album with 8 songs, 8 commissioned artworks and 8 short stories. The album is rich in imagery and larger than life characters from 10th century assassins to WWII soldiers. They all play a crucial role in bringing their unique perspective to this incredible concept album.
