The Patchwork started with a blanket my mom gave me when I was little. It was handmade from all these different pieces of fabric. Nothing really matched, but somehow that was exactly why I loved it. It became my favorite blanket, the kind of thing I kept close like a little good luck charm.
.
Years later, I realized that blanket was saying something I couldn't understand as a kid. We grow the same way. We carry pieces of everywhere we've been, everyone we've met, what hurt us, what changed us, and what made us feel safe. Those pieces don't always match, but together they become our identity. They shape how we feel, how we trust, how we love, and ultimately how we move through the world.
.
Maybe growing up where seventy two stone steps became a symbol of getting back up taught me something early: what we've been through doesn't ruin the pattern. It becomes part of it.
.
And maybe that's exactly what makes every one of us irreplaceable. Two people can share the same colors, the same scars, even some of the same stories, but nobody has the exact same arrangement. Nobody has your patchwork.
.
Not everyone is gonna love the pattern. That's okay. But when somebody really loves your patchwork, they don't love you despite the pieces that came before them. They understand those pieces are part of what made you, you. Take even one away and you're already looking at a different person.
.
That's what The Patchwork is about.

============================
.
[VERSE]
There was an old blanket
My mother made by hand
Nothing there was matching
Still everything would blend
Made of coats and curtains
Sunday lace and denim blue
Every little fragment
Found a purpose passing through
.
[PRE-CHORUS]
Maybe that's the secret...
Broken things don't disappear...
They just learn another language...
Year after year...
.
[CHORUS]
It never asked...
To be brand new...
.
[VERSE]
Every winter evening
It waited by the flame
Holding tired shoulders
Like it knew us all by name
Children dreamed beneath it
While the cold stayed at the door
Funny how the oldest things
Can still become much more
.
[PRE-CHORUS]
Maybe warmth is never woven...
Maybe warmth is something earned...
.
[CHORUS]
It never tried...
To be enough...
.
[VERSE]
Now I catch my own reflection
Hidden somewhere in its seams
Maybe I've been wrapped inside it
Long before my dreams
.
[CHORUS]
If you've ever loved my patchwork...
You've loved every part of me...
Every faded little color
Every thread you couldn't see...
Every place that shaped tomorrow
Every night that left its mark...
You were never loving fabric...
You were always loving my heart...
Maybe that's why...
The ones who stay...
Never ask...
Who I could've been...
.
[VERSE]
So I folded all my yesterdays
Into who I am today...
Nothing needed changing...
Nothing thrown away...
.
[CHORUS]
If you've ever loved my patchwork...
You've loved every part of me...
Every faded little color
Every thread you couldn't see...
Every place that shaped tomorrow
Every night that left its mark...
You were never loving fabric...
You were always loving my heart...
Maybe that's why...
The ones who stay...
Never ask...
Who I could've been...
.
[OUTRO]
If you ever find your patchwork...
Leave every color there...
Love was never born from perfect...
Love was always made with care...
Every thread remembers...
Every piece belongs...
Maybe that's what makes us...
Feel like home...more
