This song is about racism, discrimination, and oppression, told from my point of view. I live in tiny little Iowa, one of those pass through states. I feel like people don't know that hatred still exists here, aside from the occasional news article. I couldn't deal with seeing it anymore. I wrote it shortly after I had heard about a young black man being beaten in the street for no reason other than the color of his skin, and I just needed to vent, so I recorded this.
