Lanny Dee was born in 1977 in the dry heartlands of California. As a teenager, he fell for hairspray, guitar riffs, and the glittering promise of American glam metal. His idols were Mötley Crüe, Warrant, and Ratt.
But when he chased fame in L.A. as a guitarist and singer, the world had already moved on. Glam metal was pushed aside by grunge and nu metal.
In 2003, a love affair with a Balinese backing singer took him to Bali, where he spent nearly a decade performing in bars, beach clubs, and hotel lounges. Among tourists, he became a local legend, playing ballads, 80s covers, and unreleased originals.
In 2024, Lanny Dee returned with old cassette tapes and modern AI tools, rebuilding his forgotten songs into a digital comeback.
Now based in Bochum, Germany, he releases music regularly.
He’s not retro - he’s post-glam. Lanny Dee is a fictional stage persona portrayed by a real human performer.

Whiskey Nights
This one goes out to friends I've made at times that weren't always the easiest.
Tommy, keep your head up! You're a really good guy!
Chris, even though I've heard your stories a hundred times, I'm looking forward to the next one!
Jenny, so kind-hearted and beautiful! You are the black-haired angel with the most beautiful smile!
Thank you for being here!
Oh yes, then there's Bernie...the best bartender in the world! Thank you for everything!more
