A song written by my mom, Shanae Osborn, is turned into a Neo-Soul classic. The leading synth-french horn section delivers ear candy to the listener from the beginning, while drawing back to leave the audience wanting it more. This makes room for the powerful blues guitar to take over the song. The vocals are reminiscent of Maxwell or Miguel. This song is the product of a collaboration with the Scripts of a Butterfly Store, which involved writing a song together and designing some of Jio’s merchandise for their site. Shanae (also Jio’s mother) is the CEO, based in Houston, TEXAS. She came to Jio with a poem she wrote while Jio was having trouble figuring out the direction of this Brazilian-style beat. The full song turned into a whole 8-minute journey of just mesmerizing sonic exploration.
