McKayla-Jane is a Canadian folk singer-songwriter based in Grey Bruce and born in Alabama, USA: blending acoustic storytelling with cinematic folk textures. Inspired by artists including her own father, and Gordon Lightfoot, Joni Mitchell, and Ella Fitzgerald. She is also the host of the Folk Train (a live, on-air radio program) where she shares her passion for traditional and contemporary folk music and other local passionate folk/indie artists.
She’s been composing since eight years old on piano and bought her first guitar after landing her first job in Grade 8. Her musical journey reignited at the end of the 2025 school year when a new song inspired her to get out there and show it to the world. After only her third performance, she was recommended to audition for a singer-songwriter competition and placed second among three finalists at the Here On Earth Music Fest in Dundalk, Ontario.
Today she lives in Desboro on a farm with her husband and six children and continues to write.
