Can't Put My Finger On It
I wrote this song while deep in the confusion of an unhappy relationship and trying to process my life and figure out what to do with myself. It's a song of sleep deprivation, desperation, and longing for something you can't have. The base tracks of drums and guitar were recorded in 2014 with drummer Daniel Dillard in his basement, with a raunchy post-punk riff, and then I overdubbed layers of simmering ebowed electric guitar, providing a boiling tension.
lyrics
You flicker flicker til my dry eyes weep
I'm getting sicker but I just can't sleep
We've got to meet somewhere halfway between
But half of me don't even know what I mean
But I can't put my finger on it
No I can't put my finger on it
No I can't put my finger on it
No I can't put my finger on it
No, no, no
I changed my wardrobe
Now some things should change
I'm drinking sencha
But it still feels strange
If I could step outside my body to see
I think I might know what it means to be free
