He uses poetry to express his pain, joy and at times frustrations. He has been using it to empower, inspire and motivate himself, his community and nation. He writes in pidgin and English and he aims to take poetry into the streets, bars and clubs. Tanni D. Awa also known as Mottanni was born in Mezam division of the North West Region of Cameroon on the 09/11/1991. He Started writing poetry when he was in form four secondary school with his first poem titled “Stay Clear.” He has been writing ever since while also doing stage plays with Angelic Troupe Pictures (ATP) in Buea. He started performance poetry otherwise known as Spoken Word Poetry in 2015 with his debut performance on the Black Swagger Poetry Slam Show; a monthly poetry show in Bamenda, Cameroon. Ever since then he has graced stages of shows like Dare Africa’s Emerging Leaders Breakfast, Dare Africa’s 99.9 talks , New Breed Africa Foundation’s Woman Power Banquet, New Breed Africa Celebrity Awards(NBACA) just to name a f
