Born in a log cabin I helped my father build, I started playing music while still in the womb. After I came out, on at least four separate occasions I sacrificed my life for the lives of others. Currently, in addition to writing and arranging stuff that will (at best) cause you to scratch your head, I am also putting the final touches on a theory to unify quantum effects and gravity, perfecting a noninvasive treatment for pancreatic cancer, eliminating global warming, and resurrecting the dodo, the Tasmanian tiger, and the moa. I also, and this should be obvious by now, have a very rich fantasy life.

Lullaby
I wrote this as a lullaby for my children -- twelve years before my oldest was born. I knew I wanted to HAVE kids; my problem was that every woman I met had the same reaction: "no." :-) Finally, in 2002, my daughter was born. About a year and a half later, my son was born. They both heard this song a lot when they were very young.more

Whistler and His Mother Go Dancing (An Exercise in Self-Idulgence)
One of my earliest pieces, originally composed in 1989. It was much less bombastic than it is here. The title came about because, on the very first rough recording (bass, guitar, keyboards, and a melody track on a Tascam cassette four track, and the entire middle 7/8 section didn't exist yet), I whistled the main melody. I changed it because, quite frankly, I'm not a very good whistler. However, I had become attached to the title, so there you are. Instrumentation: Drums Bass guitar Clean funky guitar Distorted rhythm guitar Piano Drawbars organ Sawtooth synth in 4ths Tenor sax run through a distortion pedal and a flangermore

Ave Maria
Franz Schubert's "Ave Maria" is arguably one of the most beautiful melodies ever written. It is my fondest hope that this version in no way diminishes this. Please check out my other tracks!more
